The series.
Coral Ghost
Features Kim Ryan, a lone figure performing ritualistic, powerful bodily movements within a confined costume. Its solitude responds to social distancing, regardless exhibiting strength through stance and vivid colouring. The art breaks free of a gallery space; exploring life in multiple locations.
Nest
Collaborates with Emily Stewart and Kim Ryan. A successor to their performance Yoni, exploring feminine power, ritualistic behaviour and the mind and body. Here they explore Randall’s hollow structure, a remnant of his past work, using fabric to blur identity and exaggerate movement. The pink cloth presents femininity alongside the Mylar blankets, resonating with the current health crisis. They are visually making a shelter.
At Dark
Centres on Emily Stewarts’ How’s Your Head? garment collection. A sense of eeriness develops capturing the multiple balaclava-style masks at night, where we follow the figure's journey through a montage. Malevolence occurs between the health crisis and masks, made before and during the pandemic.
